On Tuesday 8 October, at SQUARE, the Megalizzi-Niedzielski prize for aspiring journalists was awarded to Karolína Šimková from Czechia and Tea Mihanović from Croatia. The two were selected from among the participants in the #Youth4Regions programme for aspiring journalists based on their commitment and potential as journalists.
The Megalizzi –Niedzielski prize honours the memory of Antonio Megalizzi and Barto Pedro Orent-Niedzielski, young European journalists with a strong attachment to the EU and its values, who passed away after a terrorist attack in Strasbourg in late 2018. We hope that the two winners will share Antonio and Bartek’s attachment to the European project and its values, that they will be journalists committed to reporting honestly about the EU and its benefits to the regions and citizens.
The awards ceremony took place during the EU Regions’ Week Reception for the Media, which was attended by around 200 journalists.
